Description Your scent is starting to spread! This may attract attention from enemies that are faster than normal!

Odors carry farther outdoors. Wrap raw meat into a bundle to conceal the smell. Other foods may have a smell when eaten, so always watch your back when snacking. Smell can be washed away by going underwater.

Description

Smell is a debuff that shows the player that they are emitting a smell. It increases over time until it reaches a particular radius. It then lingers for some time before slowly dissipating.

The smell radius is 20% smaller when indoors.

Causes

Most Food has a Smell Distance property, which applies Smell and grows to the specified distance. Eating additional Food and other causes of Smell cause the radius to grow larger, having a cumulative effect. The radius can grow up to a distance of 100 meters (blocks).

Diarrhea attacks from untreated Dysentery also cause Smell.

Effects

Smell causes Zombies within the displayed radius to move toward the player, at a speed determined by the AI Smell Mode world setting, which is Run by default. Smell also negatively impacts stealth.

Cure

Smell is fully removed by becoming Wet.

If the smell is being caused by having Raw Meat in the inventory, it can be crafted into a Raw Meat Bundle.
