Excellent! Is it worth adding in the flagstone path? I am not sure, it may just make it too cluttered. — Tilleen (talk) 05:38, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Wow, I did not realize how many different blocks there are that can be upgraded. The block variants really add to the difficulty of figuring out what upgrades to what. There seems to be something weird with the flagstone blocks, because some types upgrade to Adobe White Blocks and some upgrade to Concrete Blocks.
  • Upgrade to Concrete
    • Flagstone Drywall Block
    • Flagstone Drywall Baseboard Block
    • Flagstone Stairs
  • Upgrade to Adobe
    • Flagstone Block
    • Flagstone Cabin Ramp
    • Flagstone Arrow Slit
  • And Flagstone Shingles Ramp upgrades to Wood
Seems kind of like the developers didn't think it through all the way? I think adding all of these block variants to the diagram would be confusing, and just linking flagstone to exclusively concrete or exclusively adobe wouldn't be 100% accurate.
I do think that some more needs to be added to the diagram, and I am going to try to find a way to lay it all out once I figure out the full picture of which types of blocks upgrade to which. I will definitely add Adobe and Brick connected to Concrete. You may have noticed that each node in the graph doesnt say something like "Concrete Blocks", it just says "Concrete" which encompasses Concrete Blocks, Corners, Wedges and all other variants. That is why just having a Flagstone node would be inaccurate.

I also noticed that Old Wood Blocks are actually called Wood Block in game, and would probably make a better name. Also, just my opinion and a minor thing, but I think that it might make sense for the titles of pages like Concrete Blocks to be Concrete Block without the "s", because that is the way they are named in the game. I know that the page also includes the block variants, but some pages like Cobblestone Block are left non-existent while Cobblestone Block does. Another solution would just be to have redirects.
The block variants in this game are kind of annoying in terms of documentation, but they are necessary and you have done a lot of great work on documenting them.

I think that you are right that they did not think it through initially. I have only really been concerned with blocks that are craft-able by the player. My understanding that the consistent upgrade path (wood, scrap iron, concrete, steel, with side lines) is relatively recent. I think they added in blocks to make the POIs they were creating work. This will probably change with Alpha 16, or later since they now have greater flexibility with the look, although they could get carried away and make all POIs out of wood, and paint them to look like Steel!!!
The new diagram looks great. I don't consider the other variations of Flagstone to be flagstone, they are there own group, and I may create a group for them.
Yes, I thought that it probably was now called "Wood", but kept forgetting to check it before writing. I will change its name.
I did think about calling them the singular version, but my brain could not cope with the semantic irregularity. It really depends on how people search for them. If they type into the search box then the blocks version will come up. The same can be said for all the other types. User:JonPardon did a lot of excellent work with the adobe blocks, with setting up redirects, which I have not done yet, and am trying to decide if it is worth it. Also I wanted a way to distinguish them from single block, blocks, like a Shower Glass Block.
See how people feel about things. Changing them back is a bit of work.
