Hi, The forge is produced using a template, it is quite simple to use, and you are correct to say there don't seem to be any pages using it but there are few, an example would be Cement. There is a page that shows how to use the template you can find it here. http://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/Template:Grid/Forge The names used for the icons are the items image file name so for example to get wood planks into the template you would type WoodPlank as its images file name is WoodPlank.png but you can omit the .png from the end.
