Overview
Scrapping is a game mechanic in 7 Days to Die that allows players to break down items into their base materials. This is useful for resource management and crafting.
How to Scrap Items
- Open your inventory: Inventory can be viewed as part of several UI windows, including the Character Window, the Crafting Window, and other windows when using a workstation or looting a container.
- Select the item: Use Left Click to select an item in the backpack, on the Toolbelt, or in a loot container.
- Click the Scrap Button: In the item's description box, click the Scrap button. This will start the scrapping process.
Note: The amount of resources obtained is typically 75% of the item's weight, a property individual to every item. Smelting an item in a Forge will instead yield 100% of the item's weight, if it is a smeltable item. Scrapping times and yields can be affected by various factors such as skills and perks.
Benefits of Scrapping
- Resource Management: Free up inventory space by converting items into stackable resources.
- Crafting: Obtain necessary materials for crafting recipes.
- Efficiency: Save time by quickly converting items rather than searching for raw materials.
Tips for Efficient Scrapping
- Prioritize Low-Quality Items: Scrap lower-quality items to maximize your inventory space.
- Utilize Storage: Store items you don’t need immediately in secure storage to avoid unnecessary scrapping.
- Check Recipes: Before scrapping an item, check if it is required for any important crafting recipes.
