Overview
The character's level is a game mechanic which was implemented in Alpha 11. The player character begins the game at level 1. Experience is gained by various activities including killing Zombies, harvesting resources, using schematics, building, repairing, looting and crafting items. The character will increase in character level once enough experience has been gained.
Effects of Level
- Each character has their own personal level which increases as they gain Experience.
- Gaining a level will grant the player 1 skill point which can be spent on Skills and Perks.
- Certain Skills and Perks require a minimum character level before skills points can be spent on them.
- Reaching level 6 will remove the Death XP Penalty Protection status effect from the character.
- Character Level affects both Game Stage as well as Loot Stage in the game.
- Tools, Weapons, and Clothing do not require any minimum character level to use.
Leveling
The starting experience is 0, which places you at level 1. You can view the experience needed to reach the next level on the Character Window. You can also check your progress towards the next level via the experience bar located just above your Toolbelt.
The level cap, or maximum level achievable by the player, is 300.
