Description

Durability is a measure of how long an item can be used before it breaks and becomes unusable. Many items have a durability value that decreases with use. When the durability reaches zero, the item breaks and must be repaired or replaced.

How Durability Works

  • Initial Durability: Each item starts with a maximum durability, which can vary depending on the item's quality level and type. Inspecting an item's stats in your Inventory will display its Max Durability.
  • Usage: Durability decreases with each use. For tools and weapons, this typically means each swing or shot. For armor, durability decreases when the player takes damage.
  • Durability Remaining: The remaining durability of an item is represented by a colored fill bar on the bottom of the item's icon in the inventory. The color of this bar is determined by the item's Quality level, whereas the length of the bar represents the percentage of Durability remaining. When the remaining durability reaches zero, the item is considered broken and must be repaired before it can be used again.

Effects of Durability

  • Until an item reaches zero durability, it continues to function fully regardless of its remaining durability. Weapons and Tools do full damage, and Armor provides full protection.
  • When an item's Durability reaches zero, it ceases to function. Weapons and Tools can no longer be used. Armor will provide no Armor Rating benefit.
  • The sale value of an item is reduced based on the percent of durability remaining. Consider repairing an item before selling it to a Trader.

Slowing Durability Loss

There are item mods that can lower degradation of durability with use:

Restoring Durability

Most items can be repaired, which results in the item's Durability being restored back to its Max Durability. Some items cannot be repaired.
